Hello everyone. I've been wanting a brand new 25-06 for some time now and promised myself I'd get one this summer. I've been looking at the Ruger M77 target rifles. I haven't been able to find anyone who owns one and much to my surprise, the posts I find on this site don't seem to paint the rifle in a positive light. Are Ruger rifles junk? I've never owned one or known anyone who did.

I've owned a Ruger77 MKII Target Varmint .22-250 for 12yrs. I load my own.
When shooting with those with Rem 700's I'm not the one getting sand kicked in the face!:neener:

CRITGIT

My Ruger Tactical in 308 needed to be bedded, and the unadjustable trigger had creep. And that trigger was an absolute bear to disassemble and reassemble.

But once all that was done, the rifle shoots great.

As long as it shoots good, it is good.

5 rounds, 100 yards, using a bench as a rest. Surplus 4895 from Pat's Reloading.

I own and shoot a KM77VTMKII in .308. I also own 3 Savage rifles all with the "ACCUTRIGGER" 2 in centerfire and one in 22rimfire.

The trigger on the MKII beats the "Accutrigger" hands down in all criteria, it breaks clean absolutley no creep. It is set from the factory at 3 lbs. zero over travel. The stock has not been glass or pillar bedded, and with a entry level priced scope of less than 200 bucks I was able to shoot a 5 shot group at 100 yds ,all holes touching less than 1" with my own hand loads.

Most of the bad rap of Ruger rifles comes from hear say ,not first hand experiance. They are quality firearms and have one of the best customer service reps in the business.

You definintley need to do your self a favor and at least shoot one of their MKII Target rifles.

I had one in .308 as well. It would shoot 1/2 to 1 inch groups with my handloads all day. I loved the trigger as well. Heavy, but an outstanding gun.
