I have owned a few rifles but have always been a handguner at heart. Here is the problem I traded for a new Ruger M77 in 6.5X55 Swede. Upon getting home with it I pulled out the sealed package of Scope rings and proceded to mount a Bushnell scope on it. Upon Bore Sighting and seeing that the scope was way off I toke a look at the rings and I have one High and one Medium. About a 1/4" difference between the two. The scope appears to be taking a nose dive on the rifle using the supplied rings. The scope was recently pulled off of my Hornet. Has anyone else had this problem? Or Is it normal and I'm just full of it? I compared this new M77 to my M77/22 Hornet wich appears to have the same receiver and came with two Mewdium rings of the same height. any help will be appreciated.

If I understand you correctly, Ruger has mistakenly supplied you with two different height scope rings?

Just call Ruger customer service and they'll swap 'em out for you. Ruger cust. service is pretty good with things like this.

Ruger M77 rings are supposed to be different heights, with the higher one in the rear.

Thanks for the replies. I'm just not use to Ruger M77's. Looking at the Ruger web site I have the right rings and they are in their correct positions.
It just doesn't look right. The part that puzzles me is when I bore sighted it my scope was severly off. I just have to see how it shoots.

i had a buddy who did the same thing w/ a ruger i had traded him. he called me and said the scope was bottoming out on the barrel. i said " turn 'em around" and hung up. he called me back and said he did and the scope was still hitting the barrel. i told him to bring the thing over to the house. he came in and showed me that he took one ring off turned it around the took the other off and turned it around.
i was laughing so hard i could barely contain myself.

I may have a Scope problem. I went out earlier today and fired about tweelve rounds through it at the 50 yard range without a front rest and was getting a shotgun patern:(. The final two rounds were both at 6 oclock in the orange about an inch apart. I am going to try to get out later this week with some sand bags and try it at 100 yards.
