Ruger?

Ruger has been discontinuing their Decock only models lately. With the SR9 (and future .40 and .45 versions I'm sure) I wouldn't be surprised to see the P-series phased out.

Not surprised there either as they seem to be "revamping" toward the SR series (hopefully they get the initial SR9 issues resolved quickly). I'd like to have an SR45 :D.

That don't mean I'm getting rid of my P90 though :D.

The P89 sales were strong, yet it is gone. The Decocker’s were a fan favorite, yet they are also gone. Most Ruger fans would love to have a PC9 or a PC4 to accompany their Ruger pistols yet Ruger discontinued it. The P-series has a strong following especially with the P90, P89, P97 and the P95. The P93 and P94 were supposed replace the P89 yet the P89 outlasted both of them. Only time and the public’s reaction to the SR9 will tell?

I went ahead and got the Davidson's special P89 specifically because it looked like they were getting rid of the line and I don't care for the SR.

the only handgun I own that isn't a revolver is a ruger p345. love it. swear by it. and ill probably buy another one if they are going to be discontinued. I've heard good things about the sr9's but id rather have a p-series anyday.

Ruger does seem to be moving toward the SR-xxx series, and discontinuing the P-xxx series.

Will be intereseting to see if they bring out an SR-40 or 45. I really like my KP-90 manual safety model.

Other side of the coin is that you know it's discontinued. I've seen some sites that just remove inactive product and you are left to guess if it has been discontinued or if they just messed up on the web page.

Ruger sr9 are junk

Seeing as EVERY Ruger auto-loading pistol has a rock solid reputation for reliability, i doubt this. The SR9 seems to be just as well made to me.

Secondly, i don't see the point of the "recall". I know Ruger has to put it out there to cover their butts, But i don't think i would have sent mine back. So the gun MAY go off if its dropped on a loaded chamber? Isn't that true of ALL guns? Iv always just assumed that it is.

I bought one 1/25/08 safety doesn't work right miss fires .They have a recall on them .I haven't been able shoot mine for 6mon. And i still haven't heard from Ruger.

Discharging from an unintentional drop doesn't (okay DIDN'T) happen with my M1911A1. I think the industry spec is dropping it from some ridiculous height like 30 ft, and mine didn't drop that far. But neither did it discharge.

"7/11/08 Update – We are now retrofitting SR9 pistols and continue to send shipping boxes to customers on a weekly basis. As you will see, a number of parts have been changed in the new design. Click here to view PDF of the retrofit changes. Please remember that the pistols will be retrofitted on a first-come, first-served basis, so there may be a delay in receiving your shipping box, depending upon when you registered for the recall. Thank you for your patience."

I'd take a "P" over a "SR" any day of the week.

Looked over the overpriced SR in the store--and yes---its junk---don't waste your money.

When Bill Ruger died it was kinda of a blessing to the company (kinda)
You've already witnessed several changes already at Ruger since he's passed away.
Get a 2008 catolog and you'll see what I mean.

Expect more changes and new lines of firearms from Ruger in the future and I think it's Great !!!

Just a few changes and new lines...
Hawkeye boltaction
Another Mini 14
SR-9
LCP 380
and others and it's only going to get better...A.H

Ruger has also discontinued their great .44 Army percussion revolver. That's the one I'm really sorry to say goodbye to.
