Russian scope on VEPR K rail - mounting problems

I bought one of the small Russian scopes designed to mount on an AK receiver side rail. It slides on ok about half way and then stops. Looks like it is chewing up a little of the metal on the scope side of the rail mounting system. I did a little fileing but still doesn't fit.

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks!
