I have some rust on an old gun of mine. I wipe it down with gun oil every night. The rust is somewhat coming off. Is there any other way to remove the rust without having to reblue the gun?
for light rust removal you can use 0000 steel or bronze wool saturated with a light oil (any gun oil) and lightly rub the areas with the saturated wool,wipe off and lightly re-oil.
Another option I've found that works well is Blue Wonder. Just dab a little on, lit sit for 5 mins and wipe off. It's a bore cleaner that basically works by breaking down the oxidation in the bore that are created via firing. Rust is the same thing.
