I came across some of this locally. Stuff looks almost like FMJ with a little silver paint at the tip! Is it actually soft point ammo I can hunt with, or gussied-up FMJ?
Sounds like Czech silver tip, light ball. It's FMJ, and corrosive. Comes in a light/pastel blue box of 20, in a 760? rnd case.
Oh, and it IS S&B made, just for the gov't. Back in the 60's-80's, IIRC
The boxes are 20 round plain brown cardboard with labeling that looks like it's printed on address label blanks. They're selling for $4.00 each, and the cases are very dark with laquered primers. I figured they were probably FMJ, but you never know...
Actually I believe S&B did make it on military contract. They've been around for ages. It's good stuff as 54R surplus goes. Try some out at least and see if your rifles like it. Assume it's corrosive of course. It is FMJ for sure.
