I know that with ammo scarce, many of us are turning to alternatives to keep the boxes filled. I just wanted to give a head's up on Sellier & Bellot .45 ACP jacketed hollow points.

I ordered some because I couldn't find any Federal HST's -- and the S&B was a decent price. When it arrived, I ran it through my Sig P220 and Beretta PX4. Although the P220 had no issues, the PX4 would fail to feed on about every fifth round. That's unusual -- I've never had a problem with it before. Someone on another forum had encountered the same problem, and pointed to the COAL as the likely culprit.

I ordered some Fiocchi JHP's (and finally found some Federal HST), which arrived yesterday. When I laid the S&B, the FIocchi, and a regular FMJ , the CAOL difference was obvious. The S&B is close to 1/8" shorter than the FMJ and at least 1/16" shorter than the Fiocchi. So while I can't prove it's the length that caused the problem, it certainly would make sense. (And the PX4 had no issues with the Fiocchi.)

Just a cautionary tale to pass along to anyone who might be considering this S&B ammo!
