Component DEAL Alert:
Hey fellas, Thanks to whoever mentioned in another thread that Cabelas is running S&B primers on sale for $19.99 per 1000. Twenty dollars a brick is a screaming good deal even w/ $20 hazmat. I also saved on shipping by getting at least 5 bricks. ($5 flat rate on orders $99+)

I don't usually promote big box stores, but a deal is a deal... my wife relented when I showed her the math. $124.95 for 5,000 primers delivered to my door beats the heck out of driving 45mins and paying $160 plus tax locally. YMMV :D

They might not last till Sunday. I have been lucky enough to be on a job near a Cabelas so I swung by tonight on the way home and bought a brick. That shelf was pretty bare. Actually I thought they were gone for a moment, the packaging has changed color.

Outstanding deal! Thanks for the heads-up. I just ordered 12k LR and SR. It doesn't get much cheaper than that! It's basically 50% off what I'm paying for Win and CCI here.

Bama,
My shooting buddies all got into reloading, so we have an instant group for powder and primers. We're able to buy bulk and spread the hazmat out. Our powder orders are typically maxed out.
When PV had HP-38 8#, we ordered 5 jugs. It really helps.

The only downside to them all reloading is when there is some coveted brass (380) we'll fight for it. Thankfully I'm the only one shooting 32ACP.

wishing I could've got into a group buy!
Ask around and form your own group buy.

During the last two component shortages, I maintained a list of reloaders (friends/family/coworkers/neighbors) and components they wanted along with contact information. When desired components became available, quick texts/calls confirmed quantities and a group buy was ordered usually within 30 minutes to an hour.

Spreading HazMat and shipping cost several ways really brought the cost down. Having such a network also allowed sharing of components to help each other out until the next group buy.

Group buy does not work for me though. Most times I need enough to fill a max weight shipping container by myself. If I do need more than one Haz Mat container full I will split it up and offer for my reloading friends to add something and divide the cost of shipping with them appropriately.

I was in my local Cabelas yesterday and they had lots of them. They run this sale a couple times a year it seems and last fall I bought 4000 lpp. Yesterday I got 3000 spp. I've shot a lot of s&b primers and every single one of them has gone bang. I don't benchrest shoot so I guess I can't speak for their consistency, but the price can't be beat, especially for something that works every time.

They have run them as low as $17.99. I did get in on the last $19.99 sale. Non one the shelf. None on the shelf, co-operative floor worker offered to go look in the warehouse.
Came back with 6K. Took those went home. Happy.

They work great. My understanding is that they are slightly undersized. Seat well in tight pockets. All go bang. No issues in the first K. AND they work fantastic in my Frankford vibrating primer tube filler.

:( we are paying around 60$ for a tula brick, It´s very sad.........
Greetings from España.

I have only ever had one issue with these s&b's. I save a Mac 11 carbine and one time it blew primer out but still sent round into the paper. That was one out of 2k and Im sure it was the wore out 9mm case.

None of them ever felt loose ramming them home though.

I have had more issues with Federal primers than anything and I have been reloading but for just a few years.

Oh And 5k on the way .. Good times!

I ordered these primers in Small rifle and small pistol. The UPC codes are different and one brick says "4,4 SP boxer" and the other "4,4 SR boxer"... But both packages state on the front "for rifle, pistol or revolver cartridges." The SR primers have a green color mixture in the brass cup and brass anvil. The SP primers have a deep navy blue mixture in the brass cup with brass anvil.

It was my understanding that cup thickness and flame strength were the differences in small size primers between pistol/rifle/magnum.

Is it possible that in the Czech Republic where these are made primer cup thickness is all the same and flame strength is the variable? I don't have a pistol with lightened firing pins to test on and I'm sure not putting a pistol primer in a 223. I also don't have a pistol with a floating firing pin...

I have shot a bunch of these. Work great.

I will say that they seem to be hard. My 686 has to have the trigger spring screw all the way tightened for it to light them double action. Sp101 with lightened springs does not like them at all, like 99 pct failure, but I have never found any others that presented a problem for the SP101. CCI Fed WIN all did fine, so maybe these are harder...

All rifles have lit them off without any hiccups. Several Glocks and a 1911 did fine too.

quiad.. I would take that info on the front as meaning that the company offers primers in those categories. I would definitely load specific and not try mixing.

I bought 8 bricks of these back in December when they were $17.99/brick and free shipping.

They run fine in both of my Walther PPX's and XD-40.

I've got mine in. Once again i appreciate the heads up.

Since acquiring a few 1000 more 9mm cases i may be loading this coming week.

Swung by today for a peek. Big pile on the shelf and they were still $19.99 Got another brick and a lb of CFE Pistol! :D

I think they just got sloppy/lazy with the box art work. Even my S&B LRM have that same thing about rifle, pistol, or revolver...and I don't know of any revolvers that use large rifle primers. Just googled it, and I suppose 500S&W magnum does use LR primers.

I picked up a brick for 20.00, when I realized how good of a price that was I went back for more. The entire shelf, all 100k were gone, at least I got the last 2# of CFE Pistol.

I love that the dudes @ Cabela's offered this as a "hurry quick sale ends soon!" But we can all still get what we want for $19.99 a brick. Some I'd suppose would call it slick marketing, whereas I call it mighty convenient. Anyone else notice the MidwayUSA deal on CCI & Winchester primers recently? I'm guessing we are reaching "PRIMER GLUT 2016". :D

I filled up just in case, but yeah this "limited time" sale seems to be a LONG ONE. BTW.. they are missing Large Pistol online.

SP work great for me. (used 5 or 6 thousand so far) All lit in all guns, including tuned Python, XDs, P226, 1911, PT99.
Great deal at $20/k IMO
