Fyi - tried both small and large primers. No problem with large and will buy again. Small ones were not 100% reliable. Several took multiple hits to go off in both striker and hammer. Same reloading procedure as used with other primers (cci, win, etc) which never had a problem. Primers were well seated. Just FYI, your experience may differ.
 
I've only used the SPPs. They've been 100% for me in 9mm and 380acp.
 
I've had no issues with S&B SPP in my Glocks. I've used some of their LPP as well, and have had no issues with their going bang. They seem to be the opposite of the SPP though in that the SPP slip into my 9mm and .380 brass easier than any other primer and the LPP going into mixed .45 brass are harder to seat than CCI (my usual).

I've used S&B LP and SP for 38, 357 and 44. Everything went BANG just like it should.
 
I have used several thousand spp now in 9mm and 40 S&w without a single fail to fire. Love them, especially since they tend to be at least 5 bucks cheaper per thousand than CCI or Winchester. There are commonly sales at Cabela's that knock another few bucks off as well. The only thing i have noticed is that they are quite a bit flatter than CCI or winchester primers. The CCI look more domed comparably, and I'm guessing that difference may be what causes issues with some guns. Currently have about 8k in reserve, and will buy more whenever there is a sale
 
If your primers failed to detonate (any brand), but they went off with second or third strikes, I would suspect light strikes, NOT failing primers. If a primer is struck hard enough, the priming compound will break and the primer will never work. If it goes off on a second strike, that tells me that the priming compound is not cracked or broken and the strike may have been light. that is as I understand how they function.

I've used thousands and thousands of S&B primers with no problems whatsoever.
 
6000+ SP used no issues with all but about 3, but I did notice in one lot the anvils fell out of 2 or 3 when flipping.
These would have been a fail if I had not caught them. Actually fairly easy to spot, no issues with other lots.

Should have written donw the lot # for everybody. :banghead:
 
I've been loading S&B SP primers with great sucess, no issues at all. Catch a Cabela's sale and you can get them for $25/brick delivered.
 
I'm into my third batch of 20,000 S&B Small Pistol primers and have yet to have one not go off. In my opinion, they're a good primer, and I'll keep buying them.

If it takes a couple strikes to get a primer to go off, it's a primer seating problem, not a primer problem. The primer must be seated to the bottom of the primer pocket so the anvil can be set into the primer pellet. It's the mashing of the pellet between the anvil and the firing pin indent that makes it go off. When a primer isn't seated properly, the first strike finishes the seating, and the second strike sets it off.

I aim for -.004" below flush for all my primer seating and I don't have primer issues.

I have been through about 1/2 of 1,000 Small Rifle and they have all worked just fine. Well enough that next Cabela's sale I'll buy more without hesitation.

not sure if you know or not but cabelas will be open in avon next month. its probably 40min from you.
 
Love the S&B SPP and LPP. Works fantastic with Vibraprime, very slick surface. Also aids in seating.

Have seen and purchased at Cabella's for $16K on sale. Usually $20 on sale, reg price $26, still cheaper than the others.

Funny thing is, the S&B shelf is usually empty. I have to ask them to check, and they have always had some in the 'warehouse'.
 
Went to Cabelas website, just to check, seeing as I will be down that way today. Website has them as "sold out". Wonder if they are just having a supply issue or dropping them?
 
Just today my cabelas was wiped of primers, few CCI and win bricks and sleeves, no SPP. Except for the 20ish bricks of s&b spp. Weird cuz they were the cheapest too. Got a couple since I've heard good things.
 
S&B are reliable. They require a little deeper seating than CCI or Winchester. They have a flatter cup compared to the other brands. I find they work great with my progressive press, less priming issue.

There are two Cabela's near me in the Seattle area, one is 48 miles away and the other is 53 miles away. I called the closer one and they had no small pistol primers (CCI or S&B). The other store only had S&B and put away 6 bricks for me.

Last Friday, while in eastern Washington, I stopped by a Cabela's store in Coeur d'Alene, and they had no CCI and a few S&B.
 
I have gone through several thousand S&B SPP (HK P30-L) and over 5,000 SRP without a single failiure to fire.
I do however have a shooting buddy who has multiple failures to fire out of his CZ Shadow SP 01 however the gun is no longer running stock springs.
