I am looking for some grips for my beautiful 1969 square but S&W 10-5. This gun is a tack driver and a joy to shoot but i don't like the boot style grips. I would have preferred a round but bird head style grip like on my J-frames.

Houge makes a nice over mold grip but that would take away character from the guns nice bluing. I was thinking something more like checkered wood target grips with finger rest. I'm not sure who makes quality wood grips or other models with the same frame grip.

check out Kim Ahrends. And you realize Hogue makes really nice wood grips, right?

If you really hate the square butt, you might be able to find someone who'll swap you. They made the 10-5 in both square and round butt configurations. I have a round, myself.

I like the round grip snubs but i have a 4" model that is a keeper. Houge is nice but I was thinking something more like these Nill Griffe adjustable Target/Competition sights.

I'm assuming all square K-frame and possibly L-frame grips will fit?

I bought a set of Ahrend's Retro Target stocks in unfinished walnut for my 10-5 and finished them myself with tung oil. They look like they belong, fill the hand better, less felt recoil, and I shoot it more accurately now.

The tung oil finish is less slippery than a polyurethane finish and penetrates deep into the wood, it also looks more vintage than poly.

I have Siles on my 10-8 and love them for the fit in the hand. I would love to do a set of target Ahernds though for the look AND feel.
