I am new to this particular forum, having spent most of my time lurking in Classifieds.

Would appreciate your opinion(s)on a market value.

I have a S&W 1076 with one magazine. No box or papers.
The gun is in typical (very good)condition for a weapon that was LE issued and lightly used. I have a letter from S&W/Jinks verifying that it is an FBI issued weapon.

Any comment/opinion on market value would be appreciated.

i'll give you $40 and pay for shipping. nobody wants those clunkers anyways;)

all joking aside, its hard to tell. The 1076, along with the 1006 are the more common S&W 1xxx series pistols. Some people want to ask $800-$900 for one in excellent condition while others are content asking $650-$750 for one in excellent condition. Only having one magazine might hurt you because they are kinda hard to come by. And people like the original box. If it has less than 200 rounds, i think you could get $625-$675 for it. You could also put it for $900 and someone could buy it.

I paid $500 for my 1006(6 months ago) and it came with the box, 5 extra mags and hogue grips. It only had 300rds through it and was owned by the original owner as well. I thought it was a steal.

If it really was an FBI issued gun it will be of more value to collectors. Not sure how much, but it could be significant.

A typical 1076 police trade in is in the $500 range when they actually sell.

I'd figure it like this:

Basic gun: $650
-1 magazine: -$50
- box: -$50
+ letter: +$25
+ FBI issue: +$100

I think you could get around $725 for it.

I sold one + 4 mags and an unopened case of Starline brass for $400 two years ago.
