The 13 is one of the most underappreciated revolvers of all time. With a 3 inch barrel it is one of the finest handling and balanced guns ever made in 36 calibre. Congratulation Popeye on a great find at an excellent price

I have a 13 with the 3" barrel and a 19 with the 2 1/2. I prefer the 13, as the adjustable rear and Baughman front of the 19 stick up way too much to make it easy to draw from concealment. The smooth rear and long ramp of the 13 make the hammer the only real snagging point for a CCW revolver.
I put the Pachmayr compac professional grips on both, they seem to have enough to hold onto without being overly bulky.

Your buy was a good one, any "real" S&W's (pre-lock, pre MIM) appear to be pricing themselves out of the shooter category and into the collector realm.

FWIW in the mid to later 1970s various Federal Agencies had a turn in , some voluntary and some agencies mandatory of Model 19/66 snubs ( 2.5") for Model 13s and 65s . The people in charge deemed it a better concealed carry combat choice. In about 5 years pretty much everyone went to semis, who hadn't all ready . I knew LEOs who carried 13/65 well into the early 90s. It is quite the working tool of a perfected revolver IMHO.
