Looking at a real clean 15-3 4" goodyear grips no box or docs. He is asking way to much in my opinion just wanted to make sure I am not stuck in the wrong era!! comes with a nylon holster (no value to me I am lefty) SCSW (I have the same edition) and a speed loader asking price $475.00 I was thinking no more than $350.00 without the original grips what say you!

15-3

I bought a 15-3 that was like new condition, well, slight cylinder ring.
I wanted the gun and didnt want anyone else to have it.
no box or papers. I paid $425
I still have it today and put a set of Patrick Grashorn Elk Stag grips on it.
Its a nice gun. I know i have paid to much for guns in the past , but i wanted them and they are all excellent examples. I have passed up on some because i thought the seller was asking to much. Maybe only 50 bucks. Went back to get it, and it was gone. If it a nice revolver in excellent condition, it may be a while before you find another one again. You really cant go wrong
with a S & W. Good Luck

I paid $350.00 for one sometime last year. That one had been a cops gun for years, and was well worn. Not abused, just looked kinda old. Shoots like a dream. They've only gone up from there. My regular dealer has a nice one on the rack for $425.00. They'd probably take $400.00 for it. Maybe a little less depening on how long they've had it in stock, and how bad they want to move it.

The "extra's" you've listed add nothing to the deal IMHO. You're buying the gun. He can keep them, or throw them in.

CajunBass, I agree on the extras they have been dropped from the ad and the price is $425.00 Still to much IMHO without the original grips and box

"Real clean" is hard to define, but awhile back J&G Sales was asking (and getting) about $300 for very good +/rubber stocks/double-action-only, security business or law enforcement trade-in's.

Most model 15's on the used market are police/security service trade-in's that are mechanically O.K. with good bores and chambers, but have various degrees of holster wear. Excellent to better revolvers from a civilian background with original stocks (somewhat hard to find because "back-when" many buyers changed them out) seem to be selling in the $400 range, unless lightning hits.

I suggest you do some window shopping around the Internet to see what you find, relative to prices and availability. Then make up your mind. Also keep in mind that prices on model 15's in "better then usual" condition are unlikely to come down.

$425 seems a bit high, even today. But I'd probably jump on it anway, Model 15s are one of my favorite revolvers.

I got lucky and found this 15-3 in April 2009 for $309. It shows a little wear around the muzzle, but it is flawless otherwise and has one of the slicker DA triggers in my collection. I did add the T-grip later, but it came with the stocks pictured.

You're correct in your assessment $350 is about max for that one. In this barrel length, size and weight most shooters would look for .357Magnum in something like Model 19 or equivalent.

That price is high, look around and you can do better I'm sure. I had one and sold it a year ago for $275. Sure there nice but there are a lot of them out in the world.

Way too high. Shop around a lot - just got one with finish wear only, virtually unfired, 2 weeks ago on online auction, for $215.00
