Put this in the wrong place earlier- apologies...
Recently purchased a new to me smith and wesson 1911 pd 5" and while doing a safety check after lubing it in preparation for it's first range session I noticed that the hammer would drop when the grip safety was not pressed.
I have never sent a gun in for warranty work- my question is should I just take it to my local smith or send it back to S&W? What is the realistic turnaround for something like this?
