Looking under S&W on the 1911 forums website, I saw a lot of Smith owners posting about issues and having to send the pistol in. I was thinking of getting a Smith 1911PD for carry but when I read posts like those I lean towards a Glock.

What are your experiences with the Smith 1911s?

i've had a S&W 1911Sc Commander for a couple of years and i have no complaints. the trigger is nice and it seems very accurate.

i like the way the 1911 platform fits in my hand and i got it at a clearance price as new models were coming in...it was about the same price that i would have paid for a Glock 30, maybe even a little less.

there are little quirks about the S&W that you should be aware of, but if it is "right" and you keep it clean it should run fine.

any 1911 will require more care than a Glock

I have one of the very early SW1911s, and other than some issues with a faulty magazine i have never had any problems with it.

Had two of them. Still have one. No problems with either. Outstanding accuracy and reliability.
