S&W 1911, Taurus PT 1911& Springfield Armory 1911

Okay, I have to admit that I own some very good 1911s, mostly higher end Kimbers. That said I have a cheap streak in me...I'm always looking for a bargain. This lead me to purchase a new S&W 1911 with a 4.25" barrel and alloy frame last summer. I was skeptical of the smith due to the pinned, spring loaded extractor. Kimber tried these for a short time and lived to regret it (I understand there was a high breakage factor associated with them) I have no idea what kind of service I will get out of the S&W but so far the reliability of this pistol has been 100% with a wide range of ammunition types. Clearly someone at S&W did their homework. Its a very nice looking pistol too. Got a bargain...$750 out the door with a $100 rebate from S&W. This placed the S&W within $50 of the Taurus PT1911 in stainless that I was considering so I opted for the S&W over, I suppose, some notion that the Smith may have been better made...bias on my part ( I have more vintage S&W handguns in the safe than anything else. )

Anyway, I still have an intrest in the Taurus and would like to hear from anyone that has had experience with the PT1911. I have owned some older Springfield Armory 1911s and have always regreted disposing of them. I note that the current crop of Springfield Armory 1911s say "Made in Barzil" on them. They still get a long buck for these and they look very nice, but, what's with the "Made in Brazil" thing? Does anyone know who in Brazil is making these? Taurus perhaps? Will these pistols accept standard US parts and accessories? What kind of service have they given?

The frames are forged by Imbel. I'm not sure about the origins of the rest of the pistol. Fit and finish ought to be better than Taurus though.
