Was walking a gun show this weekend and came upon something that caught my eye. S&W 650 stainless 3" barrel .22 mag with fixed sights. Looked like a neat little kit type gun. I really liked it but the $450 price tag seemed high. Anyone have any experiences with this model.

I passed on the Smith but did score a 2-7/8" stainless .38 Speed Six with a factory bobbed hammer for $250. Locks up like a vault and hardly looks shot. Sweet DAO trigger and I can't wait to shoot it. So I guess the day wasn't a total loss. ;)

I had a 651 which was a very nice gun. Unfortunately I sold it and now they are at a premium.

The reason I sold it is that I wanted a plinker and the ammo was too expensive for that, so I down sized to a 22 LR.

Also, I found that the gun got extremely dirty from unburned powder. If I hung a target at 7 yards, I found a blast of power residue on it. CCI rounds.

After 50 rounds, the cylinder was gummed solid and I had to spray it with Gun scrubber to free it.

Still wish I had it and had gotten a 22 LR cylinder made for it. SW used to.

the price might be ok if it had the 22 lr cylinder with it. if it doesn't then it is too much. I had a M-651 with the adjustable sights and it was a pretty good gun however in a 4 inch barrel the 22 mag is a LOT of noise and fire.

I don't have a 650 or 651. I have a model 63,then bought from Numrich a 22 mag cylinder. A buddy fitted to my 63.It worked out great. That was a couple years ago. I think the cylinder was close to 90.00 if I remember right.

Ruger Redhawk

Last week I missed by a day a S&W 48-3 8 3/8" in 95% for $300! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: I have a 4" .22mag Colt Diamond back . I want a 8 3/8" mod 48 ; much more practical! :)
