The S&W 22a at the UT club runs, as MacPelto puts it, "like a six legged weiner dog". It's been the most reliable pistol in our collection, and has needed the least cleaning.

Unfortunately, the magazine floorplates are chintzy plastic junk on par with the toys at the 99c Store.

Our otherwise totally reliable pistol is down for the count this week, after two different individuals dropped a magazine onto the cement floor, causing all mag components to launch themselves hither and yon. Mag floorplate shredded itself on contact.

Folks have dropped other mags, and they're just fine. The S&W ones are solid overall, except for that one little plastic piece.

Any ideas? Can I just find some guy with minimal sheet-metal ability and have him curl the edges of a piece to fit the little slide-nubbies at the base of the mag body?

Thanks for any ideas, -MV
