S&W 22a ,rare frame?

today at a local pawnshop my father seen a S&W 22a with some strange black frame,with like small checkered details,not inlayed either,but does anyone know of any limited run S&W 22a's,my dad is probably gonna buy it,and is 229$ a deal for one of these with this certain frame

The only differnece I've seen is the color of the frame and some with "soft touch" grips. http://www.impactguns.com/store/sw22.html

I bought a new one for 180$ last year. Not sure about the frame you're asking about. What parts of the frame were checkered? There's not much frame exposed on the gun. The grip covers most of it.

I think some were made with a carbon fiber frame and had that checkered look.

yes,i believe thats it,the carbon fiber frame,they had a version of this for the p22 also,yes it was 229$,would the frame make it more expensive,and if so is this a reasonable price?
