I stopped by a pawnshop earlier today figuring I might add to my pre-war guitar pick collection ;)

Well, what do I see under glass but a very minty S&W 342 AirLight Ti, 38 special revolver. I've been wanting something like this to rotate with my S&W 351C .22WMR revolver.

I imagine she'll be a bit of sting to shoot but it's hardly a target piece. In any event, I brought it home and switched to a combat-style grip which suits me a bit better. Came is a very nice S&W box too, they must have been especially proud of this model.

Figured I share the joy and a few picks with THR.

There's lightweight, and then there's AirLite Ti! What's that pocket rocket weigh, 11 or 12 oz. maybe? I mean my hand starts to hurt just from looking at it, in anticipation of the recoil. Invest in a pair of PAST shooting gloves my friend and let us know how the first range session goes.

I had Model 37 DAO from over-run of some Asian contract. Yes, the recoil from those is on brutal side. I switched over to the R9 and recoil using 124gr load seems to be more manageable being only little worse than the LCP.
The carry qualities of revolver like that are outstanding though flash and recoil from shooting can be rather unpleasant.

I'm going to buy a box of +P 9mm to satisfy my masochistic side

Seriously though, this is a last resort, close contact gun. As PabloJ pointed out, it has outstanding carry qualities, a feature that's of particular importance to me at my life stage and circumstance.

No one so far has asked for a range report so I'm guessing that cat's out of the bag :)

Au contraire bikemutt! I did ask: Post #3
and let us know how the first range session goes.

Uh, wouldn't you rather buy a box of .38 Special+P instead of 9mm+P for your AirLite Ti?

Even with wadcutters, these will get your attention with the issued grips. I like the combat style grip. I'll have to try a similar pair. Honestly, the pachmyer or hogues help more. I just got a set of hogue, so that range trip is coming. Not as concealable, though.
