Hello All,

First timer here. I'm putting a couple guns up for sale and could use some advice. If someone is familiar with a Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum, I'd appreciate the help.

Facts: Excellent condition, 4'barrel, nickel, 29-3 Model, been fired no more than 50 x's.

I would like to know what I should price this at. Thanks in advance for your help.\

If I had one for sale, I would ask $650 and then be willing to settle for $600 if I had to. If you are willing to ship it and how much that costs (tip - find a local FFL who will do it for about a $20 fee and USPS priority mail postage) will also determine the price you get. If you limit yourself to a local FTF you greatly reduce your available buyers, and thus the demand.

It might have got about $700 in the "rush" of 2007/2008, but prices are down a fair amount since then.

I'm not nearly as pessimistic about used gun prices. If it's only got 50 rounds through it and it doesn't have a ring around the cylinder, go for about $800. The nickel 29 is one of the most beautiful of the series, though if I recall correctly, the nickel 629s didn't hold up particularly well to the blasts. That said, the 4-inch 29s are very popular. I'd think before selling it, especially if you like it. You generally miss them a lot after they're gone! That's why I advise people against selling them.
