I noticed that I throw a spark about a quarter inch out of my firing pin hole when I dry fire my 442. Gun shoots/functions great--is this a new type of survival tool :)

What the hell?

My 642 does the same thing. Makes for a good camping carry . . . backup gun and firestarter all in one:evil:

What? That is the strangest thing I have heard in a while and if ARTiger did not speak up, I would have chalked it up to a April's fool thread.

I bet that would be fun with a magnesium frame

I never told ANYONE about this happening with mine. And I was concerned that if I ever tried to actually SHOW it happening to anyone - it wouldn't.

It really does happen, and it's not April 1st anymore!

Wow. That's funny....Mine must be defective. No Spark!
Oh! I know! It is that satanic S&W trigger lock that is inhibiting the spark!
I assume that every time I pull the trigger and there is NO spark, God redirects the spark to kill a kitten.....cool. :D

My new 432 sparks also. I sent it back to S&W today for various problems. I was gonna mention sparking, but I can't get it to spark every time.

I just tried it with my 642-2 and I don't get a spark. I tried it with the cylinder open and closed.
Should I send it back because its defective? :p

I think I'll try to load up my cylinders with ball/black powder. Should work just fine....S&W is really onto something here. Quite a multidimensional firearm.:neener:

My 342-1 throws a little blue spark when I dry fire it too. I thought I was crazy when I first saw it.

should I start loading my 640/638/637/442 from the front end? Maybe they could release a mode where there ejector rod is removable and also doubles as a ramrod. A multi-caliber, multifunctional self-defense camping tool/civil re-enactment handgun all in one. I bet they would release it in a pelican case with a blue or grey felt hat and hard-tac wrapped in foil and a coffee packet. The civil war survival kit.

If I could only get a few more inches out of the spark--it would be one heck of a stun gun.

My 442 does, from the firing pin hole it jumps forward to the back of the cylinder.
