I was lucky enough to purchase my fathers BABY, his 586 he ported barrel and has liquid mercury as comp in lug under barrel. shoots smooth as a 22 My question is I also picked up some alcan5 powder he was fond of. I have some 158g LSWC I would like to load, However there is absolutely no hard data that I can find. I reload .38,.357,12 gauge PLEASE any help will be greatly appreciated THANKYOU

Hi Jason, sorry I can't help with Alcan powder data, but I'd love to see some more info about that Mercury in the underlug.

How was it installed and how much weight did it add?

Is there any benefit, other than added weight, because it can slush around?

Sorry I do not know any of the specifics he kept those to himself. He was a journeyman machinist, who was very passionate about his work. He chopped the barrel down, not sure how much. What surprises me every time is the ported barrel, no pictures I have taken just don't do it justice.
