Greetings,

I am a little bit lost and I have a few questions about magazines for my newly acquired 5906.

Does that magazine fit in my 5906

Is it because the MecGar is a lot better than that one, the price difference is significant? Moreover, does the 20 rounds mag extrude a lot the bottom of the magazine well?

Here you have the 17 rounds. Is it still because MecGar is of better quality? Moreover, is the 17 rounds extrude the magazine well or is it flush like the 15 rounds?

Of the mags you linked, USA brand is junk, National mags are junk.
I didn't know Ram Line mags were available. I thought Ram Line folded during the AWB in the mid 1990s. In the past I would have said they can be good, can be a problem. No way to tell without trying the individual magazine.

Mec Gar magazines are outstanding quality. The 20 rounder will stick out below the grip about 3/4" or so. The 17 rounder will protrude only by the thickness of the base pad of the mag, not a problem.

Get Mec-Gar avoid the others.

Magazines interchange between all the 59 series guns, be they the original 59, "second generation" X59 or Third Generation 59XX.

The first link is very short on detail, not even showing me a picture. The stocking number beginning with NATS, as well as the price ($12.99, one third of a factory mag) suggest to me that this is an aftermarket made by National Magazine. I've no direct experience with this maker, but I seriously doubt you're getting a good mag for that price. It couldn't hurt to try one. Check the vendor's return policy.

The second link shows a mag made by USA Magazines. I have limited experience with this brand - limited because one caused the only malfunction the gun I put it in (SIG P228) ever had, and I tossed it and never bought any more.

The third link is a Mec-Gar extended 20-round. Now we are starting to get into quality territory here. Mec-Gar, as well as making aftermarket mags like this one, is a OEM for many famous gun makers.

The fourth link is a 17-round by Ram-Line. No experience with this maker. I haven't seen that name for years, and wonder if it is a "NOS" (old stock but still new).

The last link is to a 17-round by Mec-Gar. I might buy that one. If the picture is correct, it appears to fit flush; the floorplate thickness might add an extra quarter inch or so. They do make added-capacity (two extra rounds) but still flush-fitting mags for SIGs that have a good reputation, so I see no reason why this one would not be fine. If you look at a 59XX magazine there is quite a bit of space between the last (bottom) cartridge counter hole and the floorplate, so by tweaking the spring and follower - and possibly the depth of the floorplate - a little, a couple of extra rounds of the small 9mm Luger cartridge could be made to fit.

In general, when an autoloading pistol is to be used to protect my hide, it gets factory magazines (despite the usually greater cost), or Mec-Gars like this one as a secondary.
