S&W 625 with Belgian poof marks

Hi all. I recently picked up a S&W Model 625-2 5" with Belgian proof marks. The gun is model of 1988 and the proofs come out at 1989 (N with underscore). I talked with a S&W rep who confirmed it was first exported to Belgium and apparently then to Germany. Has anyone else seen this on their S&W?

No, just curious.... where was this proofmark placed on
the weapon?

Hi Randall. The full set of proofs are on the underside of the barrel lug (proofmaster, symbols, 'N' date and the flaming circle with the 'L' inside) with the flaming circle with L on the frame just in front of the trigger guard and on the cylinder rear face. Hope this helps in ID'ing the gun. BTW it still locks up like a bank vault with perfect timing but it had a few light marks on the stainless satin finish when I got it - it's at the smith's right now being bead blasted back to new condition.

I saw a 29-3 with this same proof marking, its been out of the usa and the country it went to proof marked it, or so i was told

The proofmarks sound cool, I wonder if it was
a requirement of imported weapons, or ??

I have the 625 5" Bbl. that was discontinued 1/1/2008
it has gone back to the S&W Perf. Center for the
master Revolver Action Job and has the Full size Guy
Hogue checkered/finger grooved grips in Rosewood.

Oh, the .sig my older daughter is a english HS
teacher - she sent me a link with the story behind
what inspired Dylan Thomas to write it. He wrote it
for his aging father who was losing his eysight. So, it
was a bit of a wakeup call to Carpe Diem.
