I've been looking for a model 29 4 inch for quite a while (still looking). Well I was at my local gun store last week and this 629 just came in the week before. I looked it over and it was in good shape but needed a good cleaning.

Wandered around the gun store a while and decided it'd come home with me.

Got it home and gave it a good cleaning. Trigger is a little gummy, feels like the oil turned to grunge. Removed the side plate, lots of dried oil/varnish. Gave it a good cleaning, smoothed up the double action and put in Wolff reduced power springs. Runs sweet now.

Anyway, got it out today and ran a few round through it and it shot a little low. Got a spare shorter sight from one of my other interchangeable front sights and that got it right on target.

No box or papers. I checked its DOB and it somewhere around early 90's.

Here's a picture and the target from the first range trip.

I have the -5 so I'll say GOOD CHOICE.
Everyone I have met that owns a 5 inch has the same result, accuracy.
If you want you should try some 300 grain loads. It's actually a good recoil and pretty fun to shoot.
Great gun, all you need now is an Alaska Guide's Choice Holster to put it in :)
