Hello all you S&W experts. I have a 629-4 with a 8 3/8" barrel that I bought a few years back. It came with a scope and I now want to try it with iron sights. Does anybody have any idea what factory rear sight would have come on it? I noticed that both brownells and midway have a few different option with different blade heights. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if your Model 629-4 uses a New Style or Old Style rear sight.
The New Style rear sight has a rounded front to the sight leaf that fits onto the frame, and uses a larger screw on the leaf to hold it on the frame..
The Old Style rear sight has a squared front to the leaf and uses a small screw on the leaf to mount it to the barrel.

Assuming your S&W is a factory drilled and tapped model for the scope, you need a rear sight with a .160 tall sight blade.

Gun Parts do list the entire rear sight. for an 8 3/8" barrel model 629-4.
Part number 914350E, with white outline sight blade:

You might also contact S&W direct to see if they have one.

dfarriswheel........ Awesome! Thanks so much for the help. It looks like mine has the new rounded front. I ordered the sight as well as both leaf screws (not knowing which one to get). Thanks again!

Possibly not good.

The Old and New style sights will only use the correct screw and the hole is not in the same place.
You pretty well have to match up the sight and screw the the exact model and dash version of S&W you have.

Oh well. Maybe I'll luck out. I tried giving S&W a call but they are closed all this week for their summer shut down. If it doesn't fit I'll just return them. Thanks again for the help.
