Just picked this up yesterday. a nice condition 66-2 from '82. While I usually only buy P&R Smiths, I have decided to branch out into other pre-lock S&W's.

While I see lots of 4' barrels and few 2 1/2" guns I rarely see these with the 6" barrel. Bore is perfect and the lock up is tight, even though it is evident that this revolver has been shot a lot. I don't think I got hurt at $400 for this gun and I plan to shoot the snot out of it although it will probably be mostly .38 specials.

I've got one of those 66-2 that I bought in the mid 1980's for $175 I think, and also a 66-5 that I bought around 2007 for $400. Both have snub barrels, but I really like that 6" you've got there, both very nice looking pieces. At $400, I certainly would have bought it considering you said it feels tight.

I've fed both of mine almost nothing but H110 jacketed loads and lots of em, with the occasional Longshot loads with 125 gr. jacketed 38's. Surprisingly both are still very tight, and very accurate, considering the punishing loads they are subjected to. I don't buy the fear that magnum loads will shake them loose after several hundred rounds, and for obvious reason.

$400 is quite a bit below market here in Colorado. That puppy would be pushing $600 really hard here.

Very nice!! Here's my 66-2. Purchased by my Father new in 1982 for $289. I inherited it with rubber grips and thought the originals were long gone. About 2 years later my non-shooter brother called me and said he found a box of gun parts. He sent the box to me and to my amazement the originals were in it and still mint. This picture is a bit older. It now sports the original grips and the Millet sight was replaced with a S&W w/o.
