A steel shorter barrel K is the perfect "compromise" for launching full-tilt magnums out of.

Hey wheelyfun66, that's a pretty cool knife.. could you please start a thread over in the quasi knife forum here with a close-up of that stamp on that blade? Probably someone will know who made it/what it is. thanks

I will indeed, as soon as I have time to take some good pics of it.
Although my pics (of the 66) seem decent enough in quality...my camera is of such poor quality that I cannot get any close-ups. Have a reloading buddy with a great camera, and will take some soon.
That knife has gotten so much attention, that now I am on the hunt to track down exactly who DID make it!

First range trip today:
Super sweet trigger, very accurate from 5 yds out to ringing the gong (100 yds)!!

I was shooting this thing like it was a 6" barreled .22!!
Very happy with this revolver......

Had a scare when the cylinder was feeling bound-up, but took it off and cleaned it out....found a slight burr on the crane, which could have been the problem?? The ejector star was clean, the ejector rod was tight, the action was cycling....but something had the cylinder tightened up on the crane.....

Keep in mind, this thing was made in 1994, and never fired, so hey, guess it needed to break in some metal-to-metal surfaces!

Love it!

Snub K Magnum is a sweet thing I have a OCD problem that make me have to have guns in pairs and sets so since my 29 and 34 were both nickel my snub K had to match.

Excellent.
Make sure the area under the star is bone dry and dump upside down.. to preclude/minimize unburned powder sticking/lodging under the star. Also, watch out for high primers, even with factory loads and especially handloads.

That oughta get the job done. Now practice and practice some more.

wheelyfun66,
We covered the knife and the grips so now please tell us who made the holster you have that M66 riding in?

Very nice revolver. I completely agree, it doesn't get much better than a short barrel K frame...

stainless rear sights ?\ 100_1407.jpg

i prefer my combat sighted underlugged 3 inch 65ladysmith

Is that 66 pictured originally a 4" one that had a 2.5" barrel installed? The top strap on the frame and (rear sight) look like a 4" gun does. The short barrel frames typically run flat across the top up to the barrel.

Examples:

4" 66 top strap as compared to 2.5" top strap

4" barreled model 19 with 2.5" barrel installed as compared to an original 2.5" barreled 19

Of course anything is probable with S&W handguns. I've found that about anything could take place during assembly. As I look back through this thread I see both top strap variations on the pictured 66's.

Holster is a Mitch Rosen "ARG" model. IWB.
Rides high and tight, and the fit and finish are outstanding.
I prefer some forward cant angle...but this holster does ride just behind my hip.....exactly how I like it.

C&L: not to my knowledge. i bought it used and its barely been shot. its a 66 no dash dating from the early 70s. i like that square butt 2.5 incher. looks old school.

Sunday morning range trip coming today!
I am going to attend a snub fighting workshop next Sat, with the famed Michael DeBethancourt (specialized in folding knife and snubbie fighting).

Should be an exciting workshop; will be working with both my 66 snub and a 442 snub that i just picked up yesterday!
Right now it's 6:30 am EST, and I smell bacon and Hoppe's #9.....
Full range report to follow, this afternoon.
