this S&W 686-3 with 2.5 inch barrel walked into a local show yesterday, the man tried to sell it to several dealers and had no takers. i don,t know what they offered but when i ask him what he wanted for it,he said 400.00 and i bought it. it is in ex condition. i was looking for a short woods walking gun,i wanted a 624 S&W in 44 spl but i had not found one so this 686 will have to do untill i find a short 44 spl. eastbank.

You made out like a bandit. If you're interested in parting with it, let me know. You'll be that much closer to your 624 ;)

A few months past I saw a gun just like that one in my LGS and he had it priced right around $649.00 plus tax and I thought that was a fair price!

$400?

I regret selling mine many years ago. Four hundred is a real good price.

I see gunshow scalpers trying to sell them for twice that.

excellent score!!! the grips alone can fetch $125 or more.

those dealers are greedy fools. i suppose the $150 profit they could have easily made was not enough for them.
a bunch of like minded dealers passed up on a 3" 66 (Dec '09). the original owner was asking $450. the dealers weren't interested because doubling their money wasn't good enough....i own it now. thanks, fools

Wow! I paid the same price for mine..........12 years ago! Great score! Welcome to the club.

I had a similar Smith for about 25 years, a 2-1/2" round butt Model 66, love it. Congratulations on your find.
