S&W 686 it's hard to beat

I think you should just sell that mountain gun, to me. That things a beauty and although I have a 5" 629 those mountain guns are calling me.

It’s not mine yet! Lol. My buddy got it and a brand new 624 no dash together in package deal. it’s in heavy pencil that I get the mountain gun

If you decide to rid your self of those grips, please let me know. I'm on the hunt for a 629 and intend to find some Ahrends for it. If I get the grips first, I can tell my wife I HAD to buy the gun.

Sounds like a plan!
I've been holding onto an extra set of K Ahrends for a while now. Naturally I had to find another K frame to fill them.

I love the hell outta the S&W 686. I got the 4" versions. A matched set of the -6 variety. As much as I adore the look of the beautiful wood grips I see on other guns, however, once I held these in my hands with the factory grips, I just couldn't force myself to even think of replacing them with anything else. They fit my hands so well, and are very comfy. They've been worked over with Wilson Combat springs too by the previous owner, and are so smooth.

I too have a 4" 686 and love it for all the reasons the OP stated. As far as handguns go, it ranks right up there with a Model 17 I have. I also have plenty of semi`s but there`s just something about a big honking steel revolver that checks all the boxes. I`ve found that wood grips on it look the best but for recoil control you can`t beat the stock rubber ones...
