Is a S&W 686 with a six inch barrel and a factory four position front sight of any more value that the same revolver with a standard fixed front sight?

Normally yes. In gereral about a $30 bump in price on a used gun.

However... a local shop had the exact gun sitting on it's self almost all year with no takers, and the asking price was only $329. Someone finally took it home a few weeks ago. They got a bargin!!

The models with the moveable front sights tend to bring higher prices. I've only seen two for sale a couple of years ago at a local gunshow. The dealer was from Nevada and he was asking over six hundred for each model. Whew.Needless to say I passed.

Wow that was a high price. They make all kinds of stuff at smith. Today I went into a store and walked out with a blued 686-3 ???? I have it in my house and my guess is thier arnt to many floating around. It came from the factory like that.

I have the same four position front sight on the front of my M29 6",I almost wished it was a standard sight,as I'm not much of a pin shooter but it's nice all the same, probably makes it tough to find a holster for it;)

holster

I use a Bianchi holster for my 686 with the four position front sight, no problems what-so-ever.
