I have been looking for a replacement rear sight blade for several of my S&W revolvers, specifically without the white outline and with a wider notch than factory. What I've found so far are the C&S fixed rear assemblies and the Weigand replacement target-style blades.

Does anyone else make a simple replacement blade?

See if Smith & Wesson has blades, but you will need to know the height. Remember to also buy an extra windage screw, nut, spring and detents that are easly lost.

Other sources might be:

www.brownells.com (also look at their selection of tools for staking the windage screw and nut

www.gunpartscorp.com

S&W made blades without the white outline, but if you can't find one a good paint remover will remove the white without hurting the blue. If you want a wider notch you may have to use a file and enlarge what the blade comes with.

Blade height is dependent on Model# and barrel length.

One size fits all doesn't!

Ah, I see - the .146 and .160 reference is to the height and not the notch width. Dang - dunno how I missed that.

Thanks, rc.
