Can the hammer of a S&W CS45 be manually cocked (for a single action shot)? Thanks.

I do not know for sure, however: I know of no external hammer DA/SA auto that will not allow the hammer to be cocked manually. Now if it is easy to thumb back may be a different case entirely.

The only way to do it is not recommended or safe AT ALL.

You have to squeeze the trigger and catch the hammer when it comes out of the recessed well, then pull the thing back to cock it into single-action.

This is dangerous as all get-out. In short, it can be done. It is not safe to do so.

The hammer is bobbed such that it is flush with the rear of the slide, so you can't get a finger on it to cock it.

But, if you insert the mag and rack the slide to put one in the chamber, the hammer stays cocked. Is there any reason not to carry it this way?
