It is not difficult to remove the lock. I have a competition gun in which I have removed the lock myself. If you have ever been inside a S&W revolver, it will be pretty easy to see how to get the extra lock parts out of there.
Before you do this, whether yourself or a gunsmith. Check your state laws. Some states….example: Maryland…..you cannot remove the internal lock. Where….where I am (Texas). There is no law for internal locks to be put on guns, whether new or old. And no law that prevents you from removing it.
Then the other question to ask yourself….Do you benefit from the IL, being “on” the gun? Or off?....Something you have to ask yourself?
