S&W locks

A couple years ago I saw S&W revolvers start to show up with "locks" on the side plate.




Is it possible to get one without it? Special order?

A select number of J frames are available without the lock I believe.

The Centennial J-Frames are available without the internal lock. These include models 642, 442, 640, etc.

As long as the masses line up and buy the locks, which may be the most idiotic design since the nuclear rifle, they will make them.

Sadly, S&W is Taurus with high prices...only worse.

S&W revolvers make the Mustang II look like a brilliant idea.

S&W makes both lock and no lock guns on their centennial J frame. You might have to ask your LGS to order a no-lock version if you want one. I had my LGS order a no-lock M442 and M642 for me and there's usually no problem getting them.

I wanted a no-lock 642, and my local guy had no problem getting it. It took about two weeks, IIRC.
