Is it just coincidence that people (including S&W on their website) tend to photograph S&W revolvers from the right side so that the internal lock doesnt show?

Usually when I see a S&W listed for sale, the photo will be on the side without the lock... so I have to send the seller an email and ask if the gun has the lock or not.

Is this just coincidence, or are they trying to help us forget about the lock?

Hello. Perhaps not in all instances, but I think that in some cases, the answer is yes.

Best.

Here's one from the left.

Here's another S&W with a hole in the side from the left.

I believe so, it irritated me till I heard that all essentially all revolvers have it.

No FIVETWO, all revolvers don't essentially have an internal lock.

I have S&W's of both configurations. Unfortunately. It was part of their sell out to the B and H Clinton administration. Buy Ruger or an old S&W if you want a revolver.

You don't suppose it could have anything to do with the fact that the "LOGO" is on the side they like to photograph, Do you?

Maybe. Its just odd that if there is no lock on the gun, people usually photograph it from the left, so that the cylinder latch is in view. If the gun has the lock, they photograph from the right.

Don't have one, won't buy one but I think the hole is for hanging the thing on a nail by the outhouse door.

Yep, it's either photographed from the "non-lock" side, or it's photographed at such a low angle that the cylinder release obscures the lock hole. But I'm sure this is all purely coincidental...

Most everyone is embarrassed by the IL.

Even S&W lists "no IL" as a feature when their gun doesn't have one.
And they too generally photograph their revolvers from the right.

The lock is such an embarrassment that Smith's corporate logo should be along these lines.

25 Classic. Nice big lock hole. shoots lights out. Reduced power Wolff mainspring and 14 pound rebound spring. It even goes PING when dry fired.

Seemed almost impossible to get a good 25 used when i was looking. I did find a nice 25-7 later with no lock.

The 25-13 has a less obvious lock and the logo on the left.
