Just bought a s&w mp 15 sport my second ar-15. got it for 614 new. I have not shot it yet,but I have to say for the money its a well built ar 15. The fit and finish is outstanding!! Being a big S&W fan I had to get one. Any body else out there bought one would like to here your opinions.

Is this the ar that has the piston? If it does I would like a range report and if cleaning it [I assume] is easier.

Its a DI so still runs dirty. I havent had any problems with mine.

I like them a lot. Its $400 less than most other ARs and has superb quality. Only thing missing (that matters imo) is the dust cover.

I bought one a month or two ago. Took it straight to the range. My first time using the magpul flip up iron sights, went 10/10 on ketchup packets at 35 yards with xm855 after sighting in on paper.

Still waiting for the glass/rings to come in the mail for it, went with a variable 1-4x red dot from mueller. Taking it to a nearby park for a 100yard test asap!

As the previous poster stated, it is not a piston. I have only shot penetrators (62gr) through mine, what (bulk) ammo have you others found that yours likes?

I also bought one a couple months back. Took it aprts to look it over and see what needed cleaning . The bolt assemble was well lubed barrel some waht dirty from test shots. Typical ar parts all fit for any upgrades wanted.

First shots fired were with american eaGLE ar223 55GR ammo from Wally World. That shot at or just over 1" at hundred yards. next outing was a box of wolf 75gr hpbt and that shoot between 3/4" to 1" and some of IMI62gr M855. Even that ammo shoot around 2"+. Trigger is not what I am comfortible with but breaks at 5.3oz and seems to be a better trigger than many ar companies use.

All shooting for accuracy is from a bench with adjustable front rest and sand bag at the rear.

The barrel cleans up quickly maybe the melonite coating helps there!!
Scope mount I bought was a RRA forword canilever mount. Buy direct to save money too. Odd how some items are cheaper when buying direct. Do allways check . My scope for now is a old 2.5-10 bushell. Looks to big but works well.

Diid see some where all the testing and spec on the rifle and only rearl bitching buy some was the barrel steel was not 4150 but 4140 steel. Does not matter if not used as a machine gun. Early models had chrome bolts now melonite bolts, the same treatment to the barrels. I am pleased with mine and local price was just under 600 dollars.

Have had mine for a couple of months. Had it out briefly at the range on sunday. Handloads with Nosler 52 gr BTHP and Hornady 55 gr SP bullets were right around 1" to 1 1/4". Didn't have as good of luck with the Federal AE 223 55 gr FMJ, it was more like 3 or 4 inches, but it could have been me. (I was pretty anxious on the first group, settled down more for the handloads) One group with the Nosler bullet had 4 holes touching at 100 yards. This was with a Nikon Pro-Staff 2-7 shotgun scope mounted. I am very impressed with the accuracy and reliability of my first AR. ($599.00 at the local hardware store. I got the first one they had, and they haven't been able to get another one since!)

Bought mine a couple weeks back and i'd say its a lot of bang for the buck. Seems to be a very high quality build.

Haven't mounted a scope yet so I can't attest to accuracy.

If or when you go to a scope check RRA for mounts. Lower cost than darn near all others and a nice mount. Buy direct from RRA, and shipping was less too.
