S&W M&P .40 compact how reliable?

I really like the M&P line and was looking at the compact as a home defense/occasional carry gun. What is the reliability track record of the compact M&P guns in .40?

If you own on whether its a 9mm or .40 how has it performed out of the box? Thanks for any info guys.

1021 rounds so far out of my M&P40c without a hiccup...with 95% re-loaded ammo. I did put in the apex sear and striker block...the trigger is so sweet now. It also sports some XS standard dot sights which I love. It's my EDC and I find no faults with the firearm.

I also have the full size in 40 and it performes flawlessly as well. The ergonomics of this gun are spot on for me.

I have a M&P 40c and have not had the first problem. If you like the feel of it I think it will make you a nice gun. Don

IMHO they (M&P & M&Pc in 9 and 40) are as reliable as death and taxes.

Same with me. I have the 9, 40 and 45 Compacts and they all work great. Easy to shoot well, reliable and comfortable to carry.

I have the M&P9c and its the best handgun I own. I sold my G26 to buy it and no regrets at all.

300+ rounds of factory .40 S&W and hand loaded 180g cast TCFT. Zero failures of any kind. Slide release was stiff at start, wore in just fine.

Trigger isn't the best, a bit gritty with over travel. I'll put the apex parts in as soon as my play money recovers from buying the gun, ammo, reloading components, yada. It is harder to shoot accurately than my other auto loaders but that is because it is a small light pistol with a bit of kick to it.

If you get anything out of what I said, concentrate on it has never failed to go bang. Something very important for this class of firearm since it is aimed at ccw.

i have run around 500 rounds through my MP40c...a wide variety of factory ammo (various weights as well).

no hiccups...never...not one

I have over 1000 rounds through my M&P 40c without one problem. It's accurate, reliable and I love the way it fits in my hand.

M&P 9c - 100% reliable right out of the box. Hit 9 and 10 rings from the first shot. Outstanding for CCW. I sold my Glock after I hit 500 rounds with the M&P. Haven't looked back. IMO, it is the best gun for CCW in the $500 range and more.

I had a 9mm C that I traded. Nothing wrong with it, it's just that I have the same thing in a .40 C. Both performed flawlessly.

I also did the Apex Tactical hardened sear and striker block kit on my .40 C to correct, imo, the main flaw in the gun and that's the trigger function. Now it's smooth as butter with a short reset and breaks like a fine glass rod.

I have also added a CT laser and Trueglo's TFO night sights. Now it's my main CCW. In fact, it's the one I'm carrying today.

It's a great gun for the price!

Got one of the first 40c and have around 3000 rounds through it. Its never had malfunction with any factory or my reloads.

Wife carries a 9c and about 1000 rounds in it. Same story. The M&Ps are that good in my book.

Got A M&P 45. No FTF or FTE never any issues. 500 rds now, 500 to 1000 to go.
I've had one guy in my POST class with a M&P 40 and had a round not fire, but it was because the round had no primer.

These are great guns.

I've put about 500 rounds through my 9c with zero problems. It's an accurate, sweet-shooting pistol. Mine is stock.

My dad sometimes carries an M&P .40C. We must have shot at least 250 rounds through it, and I haven't experienced one single jam. It has gone *Bang* every time.

Got my m&p40c last Wednesday....400 rounds later without a single issue and I love it.
