I never met an M&P I didn't like. A lot. I've had the 15, full size 9, full size .45, and a couple of Shield 9s. All 100% reliable, all shot accurately, and smoothly. I guess I bought the FS9 with the great trigger. ;) My home defense is the .45, with 10 round mag. Preferred carry is the 9mm Shield.

My CORE 9L has gone 6000+ rounds with one FTF first couple mags with 12 year old female shooter at the controls at the time. Apex FSS and trigger made a great pistol even better. Becoming my favorite pistol to shoot.

I have a 5" M&P Pro9. Bought it new and I was very excited about getting it. I was very disappointed in Smith not finishing their homework on it. A Ruger P85 MkII I had was more than twice the pistol this one is.

This M&P Pro9 is not accurate, also shot 5.5" low at 25 yards. It is not me so we need not go there. Trigger was horrendous. Called Smith and Wesson about it, they basically told me I was on my own and wouldn't warranty it. Not the Smith and Wesson I've dealt with in the past. A call to Novak's for a front sight blank to correct the elevation issue confirmed it is a gun issue. I hear the 40's and 45's are nice but with the 9's on the third barrel revision and still no dwell time to keep it locked up. Pull back the slide and watch how fast the barrel drops. After a good bit of work the best it can do at 25 yards is 6.0" - on a good day, using higher pressure NATO ammunition. It is not a marksman's tool.

It has been 100% reliable and I really like how it tracks from shot to shot. Trigger quality did improve with sound procedure. But since it isn't clay bird accurate at 15 yards its useless.

This is not one gun and shooter. The second of two matches in which I used the Pro9, a three gun match, shooters inquired why I had difficulty in the last half of a string of shooting clays at 15 yards when I was doing so well in previous stages. I told them the pistol just started shooting loose. They told me they had the same experience with their M&P 9's. That pistol has never accompanied me to a match since.

This pistol is only shot when trying to improve its level of precision. Inquiring about accuracy improvement when replacing the barrel with Storm Lake quality aftermarket barrels yields hit or miss results.

My M&P is a mid-2014 manufacture date. I have put less than 1000 rounds thru it, but it's been a great gun. I know that Smith and Wesson fixed the accuracy issues with a different twist rate several years ago.

As for the trigger, the factory trigger was decent enough, especially after dry-firing, and a few hundred rounds. But I wanted to add external safeties, and that made the trigger HORRIBLE! I picked up an Apex kit, and all is right with the world again.

Only thing I don't like about m&p's is the trigger. I don't like the hinge, creep, or reset. Put in a apex trigger and problem solved. In the end I dumped my m&p 9 for a Cz 75B. The m&p just didn't excite me any more. It had decent accuracy and was definitely dead nuts reliable. I do think the shield is the best ccw on the market

I have both a full size M&P 9mm and the Shield 9MM. The Shield is my carry gun and I am very happy with both of them. I also have a Glock Gen4 model 17 and prefer the "feel" in my hand of the M&P over the Glock.

" I know that Smith and Wesson fixed the accuracy issues with a different twist rate several years ago. "

This is a 2011 or 2012 pistol so it is definitely a preimproved pistol.
