S&W M&P

They will be coming out in .45ACP, but I doubt we'll see a 10mm. If you're at all inclined to get a .40, consider this one. .40 is a snappy caliber, but this gun handles it very well.

They're also going to make a "baby" version of this, that accepts the mags of the corresponding "parent" model (a la Glock), but that will be a little ways down the road, according to our ordies.

Does the M&P compare closest to the full size Glock (17/22) or the mid-size Glock (19/23)?

Off the cuff I would say it compares best to the mid-sized Glock, but that's without doing a direct side-by-side comparison. To me the Glock 22 feels "big" (but not "too big") and the mid-sizes feel much closer to the size/feel of the M&P.

Again, that's without a direct side by side. I've held it along side a G22, but not a 23 or 19. It feels smaller than a 22.

Thats a good price for sure. Very competitive with Glock. I know that when I bought my G22 last year I paid a little over $500. Cant remember exactly but somewhere around there so if the M&P is any higher it's not more than $50 or so and I definitely love the ambi slide stop and reversible mag release. Be nice to have a shiny new pair and ten or so extra mags. Think I will just wait around and see what the word is after they have been in regular use for a while though.

I'll be issued mine this summer, and I'll have about 2k friends who will be issued it as well. We'll let you know if any problems develop. :D
