Can I use anything to polish it to a mirror like finish w/o messing up stainless.
Thanks

Yup, Mother's mag polish or Flitz polish.
It'll take lotsa work, but yes you can do it.

Maybe even a Dremel in the easy to reach areas. But be careful, it's easy to over do it too.

Mother’s Mag and aluminum works wonders, but remember a little goes a long way. I have found it best to remove the grips, put polish on one section at a time then buff with a clean cotton rag turning often. A supply of cotton swabs is also handy to remove any polish that leaches into areas that don’t need polish, especially the front of the barrel and the individual chambers. When you are done polishing wipe the gun down really well and apply a thin coat of Johnsons paste wax, let the wax haze up then buff off.

Model 60 - 9

One evening watching TV with Mothers Mag Polish and an old terri-cloth hand towel.

The ivory was an additional upgrade.

So I don't need to worry about this stuff leaving scratches do I not sure if its abrasive. Does it matter in what pattern you apply it (circle, straight, etc).
Thanks guys sorry to sound ignorant on this topic but first time wanting to do this and just want to be educated on it so I don't screw my gun up.

Maybe you could find a couple of pieces of stainless scrap and practice on them? Maybe a kitchen sink or some flatware? Ask your wife first...

Go with the grain of the SS Mothers is very mildly abrasive but you can't tell with the naked eye. Use a small amount then buff with clean cotton rag I don't think you can screw it up!!
