I carried my 2.5” Model 19 for several years in a Bianchi shoulder holster and sometimes in a pancake belt holster. Even with my thumb over the hammer spur, it seemed like the sights would snag on anything and everything on the draw.
Even with larger adjustable sights I never found this gun to be any more accurate than fixed sighted guns of similar size.
My 3” Model 13 allows the thumb to cover the hammer spur and it wouldn’t snag on the smooth top.
If .357 is a must, the Model 19.
If not, the Model 10 for carry.
Neither for a range toy. In my book a 4”-5”-6” is much better for target endeavors.
I had a S&W 12 and a 15 with 2" barrel and did not hang on to them for long. The S&W 19 - 2.5" is in my possession for almost 30 years. While I think a two inch barreled J frame is a nice choice, the two inch K frames never appealed to me and I find double taps challenging.
