Shoot! (no pun intended)

Just as I was about to go down to make an offer on this revolver, a guy I know offered me first shot at a 1950's Mossberg Model 142K .22 rifle. Looks like 95% or better with all original packing and documents. I decided to pick it up for my six-year old as his first rifle. Just have to hope that Model 28 stays there for a few more weeks.

Not that I needed one, but I ended up getting (yet another) S&W today, this time a 6" Model 28 complete with original box, tools, paperwork (but no wax paper) for the grand sum of $275.00. Aside from a small patch of muzzle wear, the rest of it is in primo condition. Ser# (S2857XX) puts it in the '66-'67 timeframe. This will make a handsome partner to the 6" Model 27 currently residing in the safe. When will it ever stop!!:)

i paid $400 for a clean 28-2 4 inch of 66 vintage here in CA. with box and screwdriver... nicest diamond target grips ive ever seen.. matching number grips. 99%+ condition

>>nicest diamond target grips ive ever seen.<<

Unfortunately, mine is sporting Magnas, so my next purchase will be a nice set of target grips.

I paid 400 for this one. It was unfired -- but no box, screwdriver or manual. Condition was immaculate.

Thank You. I used a Kodak DC 280 digital. It's been taken in bright daylight outside but under a roof to avoid the direct sunlight. Macro setting. I also used fill in flash. I edited it Photo Shop by sharpening it one step.

I use a Nikon 880 digital, and I never can seem to get enough light! I suspect part of the probem is my not taking the time to use the features it probably has! Guess I'll have to read the book a bit further. :(

Very nice looking "28", by the way!

Nothing like a nice N frame, but I agree that 3 bills might be a little high.

I would, however, go maybe $250 for it.

28s in Massachusetts

Frosty, your post is a funny coincidence. Last week at the other end of the Commonwealth I was at a local (to me) dealer's, who had two 4" M28s. Now he only has one! ;) I paid a little over what Jimmy is asking, but it's in exceptionally clean condition and still has the original diamond grips numbered to the gun. I'll be putting some Ahrends on and storing the original grips somewhere safe, though. Jimmy is a good guy -- I got a great deal on a 940-1 from him a while back.

JNewell,
Did your 28 come from Four Seasons? If so, I'd been eyeing that piece for at least 3 months!:D I bought a Bushmaster instead, but entertain daily fantasies of going back in there for the remaining 4" 28.

JNewell...

I was going to ask the same question vanfunk did. I have bought two or three firearms from Four Seasons myself and find them to be fairly reasonable, IF a long ways from me (100 miles roughly).

Four Seasons

Vanfunk -- yep, the same. I probably "overpaid," by the book, but it was (is) so tight -- no end shake, no rotational play, even the cylinder gap is tight (.0015", can't get an .002" blade in -- almost too tight). Nice trigger and a finish you can look into. The other one is an N- gun rather than an S- gun -- it's nice, and was less $, but... :D

Yes, Frosty, the guys at FS are a good bunch. May be out your way this weekend to see if any N-frames need to come back from the W. Springfield show.

ARGHHHH!!!! I just called them and they still have that other M28! I am going to GOAL in two weeks for an NRA Instructors course and may just have to leave early. shoot over to Wobuen and see if it is still there.

The timing for this show is a bummer. This is my reserve drill weekend and it's going to be very busy. Too busy for me to sneak away and take a quick look.
