This is the little revolver commonly called the Airweight. Does anyone know if this wheelgun is still being made? I just went through Smith & Wesson's site and didn't find it.

I've decided my battery is incomplete without one.

For those who (like me) cannot make sense out of S&W model numbers, here's the full description I got off their site about a year ago:

well i heard they're not selling .38 snub noses that well and they lowered the price on them, heck even skunk picked up a 637. makes sense that they would discontinue the 337, they never featured it in their "scandium" section anyway.

that 10.7oz weight is nice but I still wouldn't pack a snub .38, it just doesn't expand from that short a barrel, look at these abysmal results

you might wanna look at a Taurus ultra-lite in 9mm.

The .38 spcl Titanium J-frames do seem to have dropped from the line; they are not in the 2004 catalog and I heard this elsewhere, too. I s'pose the thinking is that the Scandium .357's fill a dual role for those who want a lit wt .38..

If you want a 337PD, Sports South still has them in stock - see here for information. Of course, they list a ridiculous recommended retail price - their dealer price will be WAY less than that. Your local FFL could order one for you from them.

I bought mine about a year ago; I love it. I don't carry it much, though. I can confortable conceal a Glock 27 as easily as a J frame.

I am thinking about getting a 442 (since the 342 is no-more also, and I refuse to buy a 12oz .357 magnum) as a carry piece, but 1)I like having the SA option and I don't carry in my pocket 2) I have a ton of holsters for the exposed hammer J's.

I bought a new 337PD in March at a Dallas gun show. They were very hard to find, and I think I bought this particular dealer's last one. But I saw one last weekend at a store that had it priced at $130 more than I paid for mine.

It's still listed as being available on www.sportingarms.com for $539.

I've read that S+W is making all their snubs with the same length cylinder. If that's true, it wouldn't make sense for them to make both the 337 (Scandium .38)and the .357 magnum equivalent because they would pretty much be the same gun. When they made the shorter cylinder version for .38's, some may have chosen it for the fraction of an inch shorter + fraction of an ounce lighter version and settled for .38+P. I guess the point is to now make everything in the .357 version and let customers decide what ammo they want. Overall probably not a bad move corporately since, if I'm correct, the materials and costs are the same in those two versions, assuming the standard cylinder size. The losers, if there are any, are those that believe that the slightly longer .357 cylinder adversely affects the accuracy of shooting .38's.
