Yesterday I traded even up, a 4 or 5 year old, but still new in the box S&W Sport AR 15 rifle for a model 60 Pro. The M60Pro was purchased back in December and the guy said he shot 20 rounds through it.
The trigger has a really smooth pull. There is no grittiness at all and it seems pretty light for a J frame. Nice consistent bead blast finish and the barrel is not canted or crooked.I have another AR and wont miss the one I traded

The m60 is my favorite j frame. Shoots 38 plus p and 38 easily, but will let you know it’s a j frame when you put full house 357s through it. Mine is a 2 inch barrel. Excellent choice you made there

I really wanted one some time back, but the Kimber K6S and the reintroduction of the .327 Federal SP101 with a 3" barrel really dampened my enthusiasm.

The lightest gun I have ever shot with full power magnums is a 2.25 inch SP101. Ruger says the SP101 is 26oz and S&W says my M60 is 23.4oz. At only a 2.6oz difference, weight may not factor into recoil as much as the grips do. I have the factory grips on my Ruger . I may have to invest in some Pachmyer Diamond pro grips for on the 60 for extended range sessions but I intend to try it the way it is first

I like my 357 Magnum 3" M60, but it is a standard model. I'm not a fan of the looks of the slab side Pro barrels but will agree it is a personal preference matter. Enjoy your new acquisition.

Personally I would prefer the standard model as far as looks. I like the slab side barrel on this one but the angled underlug isn't my first choice, but I am getting used to it.

We talked about your deal perhaps here or on another thread. My advice was, do the deal. The Pro Series is unique and a really fun gun to shoot.Mine also had a great trigger, I suspect the PC has a hand in making the Pro Series firearms.
I bought one for my single mom daughter and with the addition of a set of CT grips it makes for great firearm especially newer shooters.

Congratulations on your great trade.

Great trade for a great J frame! Given the deal I would have "pulled the trigger" on this one as well! Looking forward to your range report.

I have a 2" Model 19 and don't care to shoot .357 mags through it, especially without ear protection, even in an emergency.
When I was 18, I accidentally fired one shot from my .357, 4 1/2" Ruger Blackhawk in my bedroom, aimed out an open window that was about 6 feet away. I couldn't hear anything for a half-hour and my ears rang for several days. If I did that at my age now, may NEVER hear again. You just can't imagine what it's like firing inside a house or vehicle with a .357 mag! If fired in the dark, the flash is also blinding, so a second shot may be just a "shot in the dark".

I have one of those...keep it as a nightstand gun along with two speedloaders. I replaced the wood grips on mine with a Pachmayr Diamond Pro set. Much more comfortable when firing Magnums. I use 158 grain JHP 38 Specials for antipersonnel use, though.

That is a pretty gun and I like the slab barrel. I don't have any 38/357's but that is one I would consider.

Full house .357s are not terrible in the pro, the wife has one, she shoots 38+p, but I'll run 5-10 big boys down the tube from time to time, we like hand loaded lead loads too for plinking, Hornady +p hps are the standard in it for now though. It doesn't buck like my 4 5/8 .41 mag but more noticeable than a m19. I reckon perception is the bigger part, I don't know if I'd try the full house loads in the m60 but the pro is still fun enough. The thing you should brace yourself for is the impressive accuracy we've found with it. Enjoy that baby and if you get tired of it I have a friend that won't stop eyeballing ours ;)
