IMG_2240.JPG I bought a Model 64-5 3 inch recently that may ship today to my FFL. It looks like it's in great condition by the photos but I wasn't able to inspect it as it was bought through the internet. I thought about getting a Model 65 3" but didn't want to buy a 357 K frame without being able to do an inspection first. I enjoy shooting my k frame revolvers and like shooting 3" revolvers but didn't have a k frame 3". It seems there's not many pre lock 3" Model 64s on the market and the prices reflect it.

I really like three-inch barreled revolvers. Yours looks to be in very good condition. Enjoy!

I’d carry that all day! The hardcast? Pretty stout.

    sgt,

Not sure what you meant by "The hardcast?" but I've been carrying that Buffalo Bore load for a couple years now. They are not hard cast. The HP-GCs are actually pretty soft.

I'd like a 3 inch K frame, but not enough to drop a grand on one and that seems to be the going rate

    Probably because,

    A: I’m a dork
B: the stupid links keep going to their main listing.

There were two different loads I was referring to. I’d carry the HP you’ve got all day long.

Try this again. If it fails, here’s a screenshot to prove my mental facilities are still reasonably intact. :)

    Nice! I can't afford the S&W, but I got a Taurus 3" K frame and I really like it a lot.

I put boot grips on it, replaced the mainspring with one slightly lighter, and ground off the hammer spur.

It's one of my current favorites to shoot.

A 3" K-frame is an excellent size for a belt revolver, IMHO.

A good one will shoot like a 4".

I hear you but prices are high and getting higher on everything. A new "classic" Model 10 lists for $800. The prices I paid 2 years ago for Ruger Speed Sixes 2 3/4" & 3" 357/38 seem like a bargain in hindsight. The money came out of the 2K a mineral dealer paid me for a gem I mined 25 years ago. Literally "found" money. Now I've got a Model 28-2 & Model 64-5 to enjoy shooting as opposed to occasionally looking at a pretty rock. Besides, I'm way too old for delayed gratification.

Stonebuster, your 64 looks very nice in those photos. I expanded one of you photos. It appears there is barely any turn ring. I love how crisp the emblem looks. I don’t really see any tiny scratches that stainless seems to get through use and carry either.

Thanks, I took that photo off the computer screen from the ad so not a great photo but it does look promising.
