Anyone had any experience with the S&W M&P compact in .40 ? I'm looking at that or a Glock 23 or a Springfield Armory XD subcompact in .40. Thanks in advance.

I prefer it over the Glock 27 and the Springfield XD Compact. The Glock 27 was the least comfortable in my hands while the M&P Compact was the most comfortable in my hands.
The operative word in my last sentence is "my." The least comfortable for my hands might be the most comfortable for your hands.
Perceived recoil and comfortable are subjective.
