I was wondering what chamberings S&W currently has in a 3 inch barrel N frame or the Scandium equil? I klnow that most are special ordered thru certain distributors. I love N frames and the 3 inch barel. I have a Trail Boss pre lock number 72. I know there was a Model 610 10mm with a 3 incher.

So, Whats currently out there?

What has Smith made in this configuration in the past?

What other N frame Snubbies are our currentl in production. I know they make a 627 with a 2 inch barrel. Anything else?

I would really like a 3 inch Smith n frame in 45 LC.

These were around in the early '90s. Model 29 with full lugged barrel and unfluted cylinder (the bottom one is hard chromed and ported):

This was the first generation (629-4) Backpacker, with C&S Extreme Duty fixed sights. It is my knockabout gun here in Idaho:

I love my Trail Boss as well. Mine Is a 629-4 with the number 072 stamped on it. Does anyone make a 627 with a 3 inch? I would love a "Trail boss" in 45 Long colt.

There have been the M24, M624, M25, M625 (both acp and Colt), M627, M29, M629, M657, and the M610.

We have a Model 29-3 Lew Horton .44 Magnum with the 3" barrel, made in 1985.

S&W is once again making bright blue, 3" N frame 4-screw revolvers on a very limited run that was just announced!

They are offered as Model 24 (.44 spl.), Model 25 (.45ACP) and Model 29 (.44 mag.), and are being sold through Horton!

These guns are gorgeous . . . with going rates about $800 for bright blued and $850 for bright nickel!

Who says S&W isn't listening to what us wheelgunners want!

What a NICE looking revolver! I want one!!!

Folks, my favorite handgun of all types is a 1980 Model 25-2 that had the barrel chopped to 3 1/4." What a sweet shooter. This wheelgun virtually replicates it. GORGEOUS GUN . . . GORGEOUS GRIPS TOO!

Dealer cost is around 800 bucks and teh sugested MSRP is 1100 and change. Id guess its more like 900 and 950... I like the gun but im not a fan of the "old school" grips. I like a more modern full grip.

Does Smith still make a 3 inch N frme 45 Long Colt in Ss? Or will I be trolling the gun shows.

The grips are but a $20 to $30 problem (but you can definitely spend more). Heck some folks here will swap you straight up if you offered those grips for trade.

I see that the new S&W revolvers still have that internal locking mechanism. IMO, that eliminates the two reasons for buying a revolver, simplicity, and reliability. Thats too bad. Nice looking revolvers, but I'll pass. Does anyone know if the 3" barrels will be available for purchase? I've got some nice N-frames without internal locks that they can go on.

S&Wfan, 3" N frame Smith.

Do you have the specific model number for the 4 screw?

I have a Mdl 24 3" and would like to see what the checkbook damage would be to get a 45 Colt in the same barrel length.

Thnx,

salty.

Well, I broke down and ordered a M25 for myself and the Gunsmith ordered the M24. While talking with the nice folks at Lew Horton I was told that they also make a 8 shot 357.

I've been on Lew Horton's web site and can't find any reference to the 3" N frames.

Do you have a web address?

salty.

Do a search for Smith and Wesson/Revolvers under products at Lew Hortons web page. It should be on the first page. Just look fior the 3 in the brief description. The retail is $1105 for the blued versions.

We need to start a 3 inch N frame picture thread.
