S&W N-Frame Front sight insert

Searching brings up way too many articles, so I figured I would just ask.

I have a S&W Model 28 N-Frame 357. Problem is, somewhere through the years, the red insert in the front sight has gone missing.

Any suggestions for a source on getting a new one, or manufacturing one of my own? It's not a hugely important deal, but it does bother me. Plus, it tends to snag on things.

I had one of those insert kits years ago. Several of mine, and many of my friends guns ended up with those inserts. They worked out quite well, I thought. I have also heard of people whittling front sight inserts out of toothbrush handles.

If you are the owner of a S&W single stack steel frame 9mm pistol, which I believe was called a 539, and not too many were made, and it has a yellow front sight insert, well, I am sorry. My friend made me do it. I tried to talk him out of it. He wanted it anyway, and traded it off in the next 6 months.

That was life in the '80s!
